||In 2005, after considerable research, Collins implemented a company-wide policy that establishes the minimum, or lowest, prices that are to be advertised on Collins salon equipment products.
The sole intent of the MAP policy is to prevent the advertising of unit prices that are or could be injurious to the product, the brand, or the company ... or that might misrepresent to a potential customer the comparative or relative value of a product. The ultimate objective of the policy is to protect the present and future value of the Collins brand-name in the marketplace.
This policy governs only the advertised prices, nothing more. Price-fixing is not legal, should not be legal, and Collins is not endeavoring to fix or control the actual selling prices of the products.
